Standard Foods: Deploying MiDFUN SPC, SQM, and Production-Traceability Systems

最後更新:2026.06.21

In 1978, The Quaker Oats Company, the largest cereal food company in the United States, invested four million US dollars in Taiwan to build a highly advanced oatmeal manufacturing plant. However, in 1986, Quaker adjusted its global strategy to centralize operations and decided to suspend the business of its Taiwan branch. Standard Foods Corporation was established on August 8, 1986. It took over all of the assets and employees of The Quaker Oats Company in Taiwan and obtained authorization from The Quaker Oats Company in the United States, becoming the sole manufacturing and marketing representative for Quaker products in Taiwan, introducing and promoting a wide range of quality nutritional foods to Taiwanese consumers.

Over the past thirty years, Standard Foods has undergone several major investments and expansions. The group today comprises Standard Foods Corporation, Standard Dairy Products Co., Ltd., Drink Good Water Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Standard Foods Co., Ltd., located in China.

“Quality and safety” is Standard Foods’ most important commitment to its consumers. From the very first step of product research and development, through scientific verification, clinical research, raw material selection, production processes, packaging and storage, and even transportation and distribution, world-class quality control standards are established at every stage.

Standard Foods adopted the MiDFUN SPC system in 2015, primarily to connect the automatic weighing equipment on the production-line machines. When the weight exceeds the upper or lower limit, the system issues an automatic alert.

In 2018, the company’s automation team took food safety a step further by pursuing traceability management. Beyond the major items controlled by SAP’s ERP, they wanted a more refined control system for different raw material origins and different factory needs (for example, even for the same milk powder, the testing items and testing frequencies for making biscuits, cheese, or health drinks may each differ), replacing some of the existing manual and Excel-based methods. After a year of evaluation and internal review, Standard Foods selected the MiDFUN SQM system as its partner for the next stage of quality improvement. MiDFUN also looks forward to providing the most advanced product systems for the informatization of Taiwan’s food industry starting in 2019, safeguarding the food safety and health of the people of Taiwan.
