WIN Semiconductors Corp. is located in the Hwaya Technology Park in Linkou and is Asia’s first dedicated foundry service company to produce gallium arsenide (GaAs) microwave integrated circuits on six-inch wafers. WIN Semiconductors has a complete technical team along with the most advanced gallium arsenide microwave transistor and integrated circuit manufacturing technology and production equipment, and is committed to becoming the world’s largest dedicated manufacturing service provider of gallium arsenide microwave communication chips for the global wireless communications, information, and networking markets.
Because of rapid process changes and increasingly high image measurement magnifications, the required measurement precision and speed kept being updated and iterated, and the existing measurement system could no longer meet these needs. After a year of evaluation, WIN Semiconductors adopted MiDFUN’s FAB-AIM system in 2018 to replace its original manual system, and set a goal of expanding to CIM-SECS system integration across all of its fabs by the end of 2019.
Among these efforts, because images can sometimes become blurry under high magnification, MiDFUN worked with WIN Semiconductors not only to improve the algorithm of the image edge-finding function, but also, in response to the special characteristics of WIN Semiconductors’ products, to develop a macro semi-automatic mode. When an image is blurry or when edge-finding is not clear or certain enough due to height differences in the image, the system can switch directly into manual point-picking mode, allowing personnel to pick points in an intuitive way, and then automatically switch back to edge-finding mode so that system efficiency is not reduced.
With future microscope machine automation and technology potentially breaking through current bottlenecks, this system also reserves a CNC & CIM SECS-GEM supporting upgrade plan, so that the current investment and operating methods can be applied to future technologies and machines. To this day, WIN Semiconductors continues to improve and consider changes to its methods for increasing efficiency and performance, and MiDFUN continually works with customers’ present and future needs, developing and enhancing the software best suited to the requirements of each R&D stage. As 3D and 5G applications become ever more widespread, and now in 2023 with WIN Semiconductors preparing to expand its plant and with mobile phone sales gradually recovering as mainland China reopens, MiDFUN has proposed the AIQ and AIM-AOI systems, which can quickly improve inspection efficiency and enhance detection accuracy. We believe that MiDFUN’s efforts will surely earn customers’ recognition and trust.
