Chung Hwa Chemical Industrial Works, Ltd. (CHCIW) was founded in 1956, making it Taiwan’s earliest privately owned sulfuric acid plant. Facing the pressures of industry transformation and open international market competition, it expanded from basic inorganic chemistry (application areas: water treatment, detergents, papermaking, dyeing and finishing, printed circuit boards, and so on) into specialty organic chemistry (application areas: dyes and pigments, plasticization, chemical fibers, wafers, panels, electronics, optoelectronics, and related industries).
In view of the demand from both inside and outside the plant for building a quality system during this industry transformation, the company began a system implementation effort at management’s request. But how could it balance the plant’s internal workflows with customer requirements?
The plant had already deployed Digiwin Tiptop and related systems, but these could not meet the plant’s needs or customer requirements when it came to quality operations and inspection workflows. After a lengthy evaluation, the company therefore decided to partner with MiDFUN. MiDFUN combines quality-statistics expertise with extensive experience across many customers. Through the collaboration between the two parties, it tightly integrated the full chain of process sample submission → QC sample receipt → inspection workflow management → the SPC statistical control system → COA generation, and by integrating with inspection instruments (such as ICP-MS) it simplified personnel data-entry time, while at the same time identifying the true root causes for quality improvement and meeting different industry customers’ need to keep production quality under control.
Since partnering with MiDFUN in 2014, the company has successively passed and earned the audits and recognition of many customers. At the same time, by drawing on MiDFUN’s experience cooperating with other companies in the same and different industries, it has made full use of the system’s functions, so that the LIMS and SPC systems serve not only the needs of facing customers but also the practical needs within the plant. In 2020 the company also planned to progressively expand its laboratory information management system functions to refine the plant’s QC and LIMS system management workflows; and MiDFUN, upholding its corporate spirit, continued to cooperate with the company, truly achieving a win-win.
