BenQ Materials: Deploying the MiDFUN SPC System

最後更新:2026.06.22

About BenQ Materials

BenQ Materials Corp. was founded in July 1998. In its early years, the company produced optical discs, helping people store knowledge and entertainment with high-quality, high-capacity products. Recognizing the rapid growth of the flat-panel display industry and leveraging the group’s vertical integration advantage, BenQ Materials moved aggressively into the polarizer business. To ensure it could offer customers the most complete solutions, the company has remained committed to in-house R&D and holds numerous core technologies, including stretching, optics, polymers, injection and extrusion, roll-to-roll, precision coating, precision engraving, and formulation.

By cross-applying its core technologies, the company’s product range has expanded from a single polarizer to high-value-added optical materials such as optical films (3D and touch-related) and green-energy functional films. BenQ Materials is now one of the world’s top four polarizer manufacturers, and in recent years it has also entered the medical care field, reaching the consumer market under its own brand.

Why Partner with MiDFUN

BenQ Materials had run another vendor’s SPC system for nine years and was held back by its functional limitations: the system could not open multiple charts at once, frequently crashed and lagged, suffered occasional disconnections, and could not meet its customers’ requirements, among other issues. In 2019, the company therefore began discussions with MiDFUN, and after a lengthy evaluation it decided to deploy the MiDFUN SPC statistical process control system and integrate it with BenQ’s existing MES. After the deployment, the system achieved real-time OOS and OOC alerts and ALARM warnings based on the eight detection rules, allowing on-site personnel to take effective action on abnormalities immediately, rather than discovering them only after the product has moved downstream!

System Integration

In the past, the other vendor’s SPC could only import SPC data on a scheduled basis and could not achieve real-time monitoring. This time, through MiDFUN’s MDC-API technology transfer, the system provides real-time SPC quality management and can interact with the various in-plant systems such as MES and ERP, achieving heterogeneous system integration and connectivity and laying the foundation for a future big-data integration platform!!

Automated Quality Reporting Applications

By deepening its use of the QIR (Quality Intelligent Report) module, BenQ now holds its regular weekly and monthly quality meetings using the system to communicate the latest quality status of each product, and to review and control products that showed abnormalities during the period.
Going forward, the QIR system’s automatic report-distribution feature will free QA personnel from the daily and weekly grind of producing quality reports, letting the system automatically generate an endless variety of reports and reducing the manual work of compiling forms.

[QIR – Automated Quality Report]

[QIR – Manager Report]

According to rules defined by managers, periodic reports (such as daily, weekly, and monthly reports) can be opened at any time.
Daily, weekly, monthly, and other periodic quality reports by customer, by machine, by shift, by part number, and so on. Set the rules and conditions for QIR.
