AU Optronics Corp. (AUO) was originally named Acer Display Technology, founded in August 1996. After merging with Unipac Optoelectronics in 2001, it was renamed AU Optronics, and in 2006 it further acquired Quanta Display. AUO was the world’s first TFT-LCD design, manufacturing, and R&D company to be publicly listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Since 2010 it has been selected for the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for consecutive years, and in 2016 its consolidated revenue reached NT$329.09 billion. The company currently has 43,000 employees worldwide, with operations spanning Taiwan, mainland China, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the United States, Europe, and other locations across the globe.
AUO operates a complete range of production lines from Gen 3.5 to Gen 8.5, supplying panels from 1.2 inches to 85 inches that cover all kinds of display applications. Its strong R&D capability and patent portfolio is substantial: as of July 2017, its cumulative patent applications had reached 23,600, with more than 17,600 patents granted worldwide. Since 2008, AUO has entered the green energy industry, providing high-reliability and high-quality solar solutions, including high-efficiency solar modules, all-around power plant construction services, and a highly integrated energy management service platform.
AUO is highly committed to product quality. Whether it is the precise measurement of color or dimensions, AUO holds itself to the standard of comprehensive quality assurance inspection, while also demanding accuracy and efficiency. MiDFUN is a long-term collaborating supplier of AUO. As AUO grew rapidly and its products diversified, MiDFUN worked alongside the equipment vendors to perform color measurement and various dimensional analyses, providing AUO with fast and comprehensive professional services.
As TFT panel sizes grew larger and production shifted offshore, MiDFUN built the TM (paired with the TOPCON and MINOLTA luminance meters and chromaticity meters) and CM (paired with the SONY 3CCD) color measurement and analysis systems. These were marketed across mainland China from 2011 to 2018 and earned the recognition of the major TFT customers. Amid today’s demand for refined, high-mix low-volume products, MiDFUN’s collaboration on automation R&D will keep getting better, and we hope that through excellent service we can help Taiwan’s display industry maintain its outstanding competitiveness.
Innolux Corporation has adopted MiDFUN’s precision measurement systems since 2010.
Chunghwa Picture Tubes has adopted MiDFUN’s TM & CM and quality engineering systems since 2009.
HannStar Display and HannStar Electronics adopted MiDFUN’s quality engineering systems in 2001 and 2014, respectively.
TPK Holding deployed MiDFUN’s quality engineering system and instrument management and analysis system in 2009, 2011, and 2014, respectively.
Cando Corporation has deployed MiDFUN’s quality engineering system and precision measurement systems from 2011 to the present.
MiDFUN’s quality and precision measurement systems are the most suitable quality systems for TFT-related products.
