Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) is a flagship enterprise of Taiwan’s major aerospace industry. Since its founding, its Engine Business Division has supplied critical engine-related components to countries around the world, laying a solid foundation for Taiwan’s engine industry.
For AIDC’s three core units, R&D, production, and quality, customer requirements call for a committed level of quality assurance and control over R&D failures. Managing quality-related disputes and accountability, as well as the failure modes and supply of R&D products, demands a systematic way to provide the relevant documentation and controls. To this end, AIDC adopted MiDFUN’s FMEA and SPC systems.
Under failure mode management, the company’s development unit can effectively organize the failure modes of each engine component under development, and correspondingly
produce the QC-PLAN that needs to be controlled. The production unit can then use this QC-PLAN as the template for controlling on-site failures. Through the SPC system’s data collection and its response to abnormal failure behavior in production, the data is further pushed to FMEA for process failure management. Its benefits make it possible to define reasonable specification standards and accountability for standards that are unclear or ambiguous and for unreasonable aspects of the manufacturing process, while quality management personnel and the manufacturing unit also gain a standard against which quality disputes can be judged.
By adopting these quality-related systems, AIDC, guided by the principles of accountability, innovation, and a quality-driven approach, vigorously advances its TQM quality-precision program, leading the continuous upgrading of Taiwan’s aircraft engine industry to become the operational hub of the regional engine manufacturing system. With superb manufacturing technology and flawlessly professional quality, it satisfies the needs of customers worldwide, pursuing excellence and creating a competitive edge that stands among the world’s best, to become a world-class professional technology center for aerospace engine manufacturing.
