Kingston Technology was founded in 1987 and is headquartered in Fountain Valley, California, USA. It is the world’s largest independent manufacturer of memory products. According to DRAMeXchange statistics, Kingston holds approximately 68% of the global third-party DRAM module market share, making it an industry-leading brand.

Kingston’s main product lines cover memory modules, solid-state drives (SSDs), USB flash drives, memory cards, card readers, gaming peripherals, embedded memory products, and other solutions. The company operates manufacturing and logistics centers in the United States, Taiwan, China, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, serving distributors, retailers, and OEM customers across six continents.

Project Background and Challenges

In August 2017, Kingston’s global quality assurance department launched a quality management system evaluation project. Because this unit is responsible for planning the execution of quality systems across the global group, it took a highly cautious approach to system evaluation. The selection criteria had to satisfy the quality management needs of the Taiwan plant while enabling group-wide resource sharing and unified management.

Equipment data integration: Process equipment such as the SE500 needed to connect in real time with the SPC system to enable automated data collection and monitoring.

Supplier collaboration efficiency: Operations such as mold management and material declaration relied on manual back-and-forth communication, resulting in low efficiency.

Information security compliance requirements: The group’s information security policy required the system to integrate a multi-factor authentication mechanism.

Mold Management Efficiency Improved by Over 50%

After implementing the mold management function in 2023, Kingston’s procurement unit reduced its original manual management workload by more than half. Through MiDFUN’s SQM system, Kingston can directly issue new mold requirement notifications to suppliers; suppliers in turn fill in and respond to requirement forms online through MiDFUN’s SQP system, greatly improving two-way communication efficiency.

Zero Overdue Gauge Management

The proactive reminder function of MiDFUN’s MSA gauge calibration management system effectively prevents overdue calibration and maintenance of thousands of gauge instruments, ensuring the reliability of measurement data and the compliance of the quality system.

Digitalized Compliance Operations

From 2024 to 2025, Kingston’s compliance unit brought GPD operations into MiDFUN’s SQM/SQP system management, including MD material declaration and FMD full material declaration. Automated system consolidation replaced the original manual compilation, significantly reducing the operational burden and improving data accuracy.

Conclusion and Future Outlook

Since their first collaboration in 2017, Kingston and MiDFUN have built a close partnership spanning eight years. From the initial SPC system implementation, the collaboration has gradually expanded to gauge calibration management, supplier quality management, customer-supplied item management, and digitalized compliance operations—demonstrating the extensibility of MiDFUN’s systems and Kingston’s trust in MiDFUN’s professional capabilities.
