ChipMOS Technologies: Adopting the MiDFUN FMEA System

最後更新:2026.06.22

ChipMOS Technologies Inc. was founded in August 1997. Its core business is providing packaging and testing services for high-frequency, high-density memory products and communication ICs in the back-end manufacturing of IC semiconductors. Through vertically integrated operations, it delivers specialized and international IC packaging and testing foundry services to its customers.

The company originally managed its FMEA work using paper and Excel. In 2015, in response to customer requirements, it needed to manage FMEA in a systematic way, and this FMEA system had to integrate with the company’s existing NOTES electronic system. After nearly a year of evaluation and trials, the company finally found MiDFUN, a partner with the experience and capability to meet its needs. There were considerable difficulties during the rollout of this project, including the customer’s last-minute addition of an intelligent abnormal failure analysis requirement for FMEA, as well as the urgent pressure of integration and go-live. Through joint efforts by both sides, all kinds of problems were overcome, and the goal of going live within one year was achieved. Because the execution benefits were high, the company subsequently signed a three-year cooperation plan with MiDFUN.

Since ChipMOS began cooperating with MiDFUN in 2015, MiDFUN’s system integration capabilities have allowed the FMEA system to serve not only customer-facing needs but also in-plant practical requirements. Starting in mid-2019, the plan was further extended to FMEA fifth edition and MFMEA deployment, taking the system deeper into automated production line applications. Beginning in 2020, both sides also began to expand the scope of system use into CP and APQP.
