Foxconn Interconnect Technology (FIT) was founded in 2012 and is an important subsidiary of the Hon Hai (Foxconn) group. FIT mainly develops and produces connectors, cables, optical fiber, and wireless connectivity products, providing solutions for computers and consumer electronics. FIT is the largest connector manufacturer in the Greater China region. Its 2015 revenue was approximately NT$75 billion. It operates multiple production bases in Taiwan, mainland China, and Vietnam.
At the end of 2016, FIT adopted the MiDFUN SPC system, with a plan to integrate it with the EQC the company had developed in-house. In practice, although this was a quality-data-collection system that FIT had previously developed in-house within the Hon Hai group, it turned out that the original developers had already left, and the staff who took over were unfamiliar with the system, so it took more than half a year to complete the technology transfer and integration. It is worth noting that the company also adopted the SPC-QIR module, which can automatically generate daily and weekly reports each day and each week, considerably improving the situation in which managers previously had to wait two to three days before they could see the quality information from the day before.
The company’s quality technology committee and MiDFUN discussed developing a big-data integration system for the company. In 2019, building on their previous cooperation, the two sides expanded the deployment through the SPCPLUS system to include on-site monitoring and the special L-S control charts suited to the company. They also discussed process-parameter collection and analysis; the company’s big data is currently being collected and analyzed, and once concrete results are achieved, this will serve as a basis for gradually expanding the application to the various plants in mainland China and Vietnam, improving automation efficiency and reducing the burden on manpower. Both sides look forward to gradually expanding the cooperation to supply-chain SQM, creating a win-win outcome.
