Sinher Technology Inc. was founded in 1965 and has operated steadily for many years, with its revenue continuing to grow rapidly. It currently has 4,500 employees and a capital of over NT$1.7 billion. Its main manufactured and marketed products include computer components, spring parts, stamped parts, and assembled parts, with sales reaching markets around the world. It is currently the world’s largest supplier of notebook computer hinges, with a global market share of about 50%. Its main products are:
1. Hinge product lines for design and development, covering mobile phones, digital video cameras, monitors, and notebook and tablet computers.
2. Shaft design for the production of LCD displays, TVs, and consumer electronics products.
3. Metal injection molding (MIM).
4. Manufacturing of precision parts such as stamping, die casting, turned parts, and spring products.
5. Medical instruments and devices: steel needles of various specifications, blood-collection needles, dialysis needles, finger blood needles, safety finger blood needles, and more.
In 2009, Sinher Technology adopted the MiDFUN SPC&MSA system. At that time, Sinher’s quality control was still based mainly on paperwork and Excel. During that period, another SPC peer company also borrowed the system for a trial of more than six months. After actual use and testing, it was confirmed that MiDFUN SPC was the most suitable choice.
The adoption can be divided into three stages by time. 2009-2011, the run-in period: this stage focused on becoming familiar with systematization and on personnel training, including systematizing existing forms, establishing operational SOPs, and coordinating input with process personnel (there were relatively few quality assurance staff at the time). 2011-2014, the rapid growth period: at this stage operations matured, automation equipment was purchased in large quantities, the number of SPC users was greatly increased across the plants, and use was extended to the mainland China plant. 2015 onward, the stable results period: customers praised the system and personnel management became institutionalized; the system matured to the point where staff could no longer do without it. When the customer’s relevant managers evaluated their suppliers, Sinher’s quality control ranked first in the SPC area.
In 2018, Sinher Technology integrated mechanisms for automation and an unmanned factory. MiDFUN’s part of this went live with testing of the first system at the end of 2018, and in 2019 the automation effort was gradually expanded, with the hope that 2020 would advance the integration of the quality system with ERP and Industry 4.0 to an even higher level.
